Help Stop Black Swallow-Wort in Somerville This Summer
The City of Somerville is partnering with community groups again this year to raise awareness about black swallow-wort (BSW), a very aggressive and invasive, non-native weed that can be found throughout Somerville. BSW displaces native plants and habitats, threatens butterflies and songbirds, and is toxic to deer and livestock. It is especially harmful to the monarch butterfly population because it resembles milkweed, where monarchs lay their eggs, and once the monarch larvae hatch, they die from eating the toxic BSW leaves. Another Night of Gunfire In Somerville
Another night of violence when shots were fired in Pennsylvania Avenue in Somerville, but never reported until today. Police found fired shell casings. Police would not comment. This is Yet another incident of gun violence in the city in recent days and weeks in the city.
Next week Councilors insist they will cut police officers nd the police budget instead of making sure the police department has enough officers to provide safety to our residents. At least two of these City officials are running for Mayor with a total disregard of the danger of what’s going on in Somerville and in your neighborhood.
I will make sure to address this issue when elected to Mayor.

Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,
Climate Priorities NOT. An eco system in West Somerville was destroyed in Ward 7 under her watch. Katjana Ballantyne allowed dozens of 100 foot mature trees to be chopped down located at 501 Mystic Valley PKWY in West Somerville THE DAY PRIOR to the tree ordinance that went into effect so that a developer could come in and build a 90 unit condo on an acre property after razing the only dwelling, a single home that currently sits on the property.
