On Thursday, June 24, 2021, at approximately 8pm, SPD officers responded to an assault at a Somerville residence.

Upon arrival, officers were informed that a person armed with a knife had self-barricaded in an apartment and was threatening self-harm. In a professional and compassionate approach, the SPD SRT (Special Response Team) along with other officers de-escalated a very dangerous situation. A job well done using crisis intervention techniques by Somerville Police Officers to help a community member in crisis.
