In the culmination of their summer theatre camp, Somerville’s Project STAR youth will present their 2015 performance, “See You Again!,” on Thurs., August 13 at 7 p.m. in the West Somerville Neighborhood cafetorium (177 Powderhouse Blvd.). The performance is free and open to the public. Project STAR is a free, 6-week Summer Theatre Camp directed by Youth Arts Coordinator Jimmy Del Ponte, in which Somerville youth learn script writing and theatre production. Carvalho, George M., August 1st, 2015 of North Woodstock, NH formerly of Somerville sadly passed away last week. Husband of Maureen M. Browne. Father of Alexander and Maddison Carvalho. Son of Ligia Taylor and the late George M. Carvalho. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends in Somerville. George served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was currently an employee of the Burndy Corp. of Lincoln, NH where he will be greatly missed.

On the above date and time, while assigned to E-4, I was dispatched to the area of Broadway and School St. for a disabled motor vehicle. The reporting person stated there was a motor vehicle in the intersection with the lights on causing a traffic issue. He heard several vehicles honking their horns due to the vehicle in the roadway. This past week, a Somerville Animal Control officer was called to the Winter Hill Yacht Club that’s located on Foley Street in Somerville for the removal of an unwanted guest.
The unwanted guest, a full grown opossum that was found sunbathing on one of the members boats at the yacht club just relaxing in the sun.

Olynyk and the kids participated in the LEGO® Ninjago Training Camp, rode the rides and conducted LEGO® builds together. The visit was part of The Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation community programs.

Thunderstorms, strong winds and golfball size hailstones poured down over Somerville Tuesday afternoon under a dark cloudy sky just before evening drive time causing traffic jams and vehicles racing for cover to avoid the hailstones.
Trees on Nashua Street fell over during the strong winds leaving a big mess for DPW crews to clean up.
Somerville resident Richey Clark even got to make a snowball out of the hailstones.

Early Monday morning, an eighteen wheel fuel tanker collided with another truck that was towing it as they were traveling towards Union Square from Sullivan Square in Somerville that halted morning drive traffic to a standstill for hours after it got lodged beneath the railroad bridge that’s located on Washington Street at Tufts Strret just before McGrath Highway.
