Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,
Sources confirm that on Saturday October 17 2026 a multiple vehicle accident in New Bedford, was the result of Shaun Oliver, candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, losing control of his vehicle after attending a political gathering. His vehicle had overturned and struck several unoccupied vehicles parked along the crowded street.
The Mike Minogue for Governor campaign has respectively requested that Shaun Oliver suspend his campaign awaiting the outcome of an investigation. With the election process already underway, Minogue, if elected, will assure the general public that accountability is his first priority and if there is any wrongdoing on the part of Oliver, He will immediately request his resignation if elected to office.
Press Release from the Minogue team this morning:
Mike Minogue Calls on Shawn Oliver to Suspend Campaign
HAMILTON, Mass. — Mike Minogue, candidate for Governor of Massachusetts, today called on Shawn Oliver to suspend his campaign immediately following his arrest for operating under the influence.
“I am extremely disappointed,” said Minogue. “Shawn is lucky to be alive and lucky that no one innocent was hurt. There is no excuse for driving under the influence.”
“After speaking with Shawn, I am asking him to suspend his campaign immediately, and when elected, I will formally ask for his resignation,” Minogue said. “Shawn is a father and grandfather, and he needs to put his family first. He needs to do the work to ensure this never happens again. If he needs help with that, I will help him.”
Minogue said the moment also calls for leadership and accountability from those who seek public office.
“As governor, I will put the Commonwealth first,” said Minogue. “That starts with accountability, something Massachusetts has not seen from Maura Healey.”
Sincerely,
Rick Scirocco
