The John T. Forcellese Memorial Fund was established as a living tribute to the memory of John, who passed away on May 10, 2000 at the age of 24. John was first diagnosed with Osteocarcoma when he was 15 years old and for the next 8 1/2 years, he courageously fought his illness to the best of his ability each day, and in doing so, set an example for those around him to never give up.
The primary mission of the fund is to award scholarships to deserving elementary and high school students to help them to further their education. Additionally, the fund makes donations to other charitable organizations.
John’s Team is the fundraising arm of the organization and is comprised of over two hundred participants in the fund’s annual golf tournament and Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. To date, the fund has awarded 162 scholarships and raised $103,000 for the Jimmy Fund.
