Mary Ellen Ford, a lifelong Somerville resident who works for the United States Postal Service at the Union Square Post Office in Somerville. 
Mary Ellen goes the extra step everyday to take some of the stress out of customers who sometime stand in long lines at the post office waiting to be served as she greets her Union Square customers with a happy smile and a pleasant hello to break the ice, sooth the pain of waiting and make their visit to the post office a little less stressful and a little more pleasant. 

In this busy world that we live in today, sometimes it takes something as little as a smile and a pleasant hello to make someone’s day, even if it’s only in a line at the post office.
