Hard as it may be to imagine, in another decade the Mystic River could be clean enough for swimming.

Here’s the thing, I believe in a data-driven approach to problem solving. However, an MCAS test is fairly crude way of generating data about student and teacher performance. Our assessment tools should match the rigor we demand of our teachers and students. It’s like trying to measure an ocean with a ruler. We aren’t using the right tool for the job and we’re not getting the ata that might lead us to better decisions.

Somerville High School Junior Gabrielle Etienne placed 10th in the Shot Put at the New England Track Championships on Saturday. The meet was held at Thonrton Academy in Saco Maine.
