Hundreds attended the 2014 Collier Strong Kickball Tournament at Trum Field in Somerville this past Saturday to honor slain MIT police officer Sean Collier who was brutally murdered during the Boston Marathon bombing.
Collier had plans about his future jn Somerville and was going to become a Somerville Police officer before his tragic murder took place.
The 2nd annual event took place under sunny sky’s in 80 degree temperatures at Trum Field on Broadway in Somerville with an overwhelming crowd in attendance.

Somerville’s Medeiros Sisters Honored at Fenway Park
Two Somerville sisters, Judy and Nancy Medeiros were recognized this past Thursday night at the Fenway Park EMC Club and awarded the Shinning Star Award from the “Accelerated Cure Project” (ACP) for their MS Fundraisers to benefit MS research.
The Medeiros sister’s have run the “Annual Edmund Mederios Foundation Fundraiser”and donates its proceeds to benefit research for MS for the past 14 years.

William “Bill” Roche, a lifelong Somerville resident who has served the City of Somerville as an elected official since 1996.
He held the office of Alderman for City of Somerville from 1996 – 2012 (16 years) and now he is the Director of Personnel for the City of Somerville from 2012-present.
Bill Roche has always been and still is involved with many charitable organizations throughout the city and is always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. Bill really cares about this city and he has always been there for it’s citizens.
