Union Square Walking Tour – community note

Please join the Somerville Historic Preservation Commission (SHPC) for a Union Square Walking Tour, “Union Square: An Intermixing of Industry, Immigration and Innovation,” on Sunday, September 21 2 to 4:30 p.m. The tour is free, and will step off from Somerville High School, 91 Highland Ave. It will include interior tours of the historic St. Anthony’s Church and the new Greentown Labs, and will end with a reception at Machu Picchu Restaurant. Somerville Has A New Police Officer

This past Thursday evening at Somerville City Hall in the Alderman’s Chambers, Michael Cabral took the oath of office and was sworn in as one of Somerville’s newest police officers.

Michael is the son of Somerville Police Deputy Chief Michael Cabral and he is also grandson to Former Somerville Mayor/ Register of Deeds Eugene Brune.

Friends, family and many of his new co-workers were in attendance at the ceremony to celebrate Mike’s special day.
