Acosta arrest

On Saturday, September 27, 2014, I, Officer Michael Capasso was on duty for the Somerville Police in marked cruiser 661. At approximately 18:55 hours, Officer Legros and I were
dispatched to K-Mart for a report of a shoplifter. Upon arrival, we spoke with loss prevention agent who stated that he observed the defendant place 4 Olay skin care products into his bag (2 day moisturizers, 2 night time moisturizers), walk past the checkout counters, and exit the store. Loss prevention escorted the male, later identified as Mr. Luis Acosta, back into K-Mart and phoned the Police.

When I requested Mr. Acosta to produce an identification card, he informed me that he had an active arrest warrant for shoplifting. Somerville Dispatch confirmed the warrant and Mr. Acosta was placed under arrest. Mr. Acosta is additionally being charged with shoplifting (total value of the 4 products before tax is $97.06). A copy of the receipt will be attached to this report.
