O’Grady Arrest

For the past several months, the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force has been investigating EDWIN O’GRADY, Massachusetts (MA). Information was received that O’GRADY has been
planning to rob several banks in the Boston metropolitan area. On 9/24/2014, the Task Force learned that O’GRADY was casing the Rockland Trust Bank located at Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA. On 9/24/2014, at approximately 10:30PM, officers set up surveillance in the vicinity of O’GRADY’s aforementioned residence. Task Force officers observed O’GRADY and another white male leaving the target residence in a tan colored Jeep Cherokee, with New Hampshire registration. Task Force officers followed the Jeep to the Red Roof Inn, located at Commerce Way, Woburn, MA. Task Officers observed O’GRADY exit the Jeep and get into a silver sedan with New York registration, which was parked in a parking garage to the rear of the Red Roof Inn. Both O’GRADY traveled in the Jeep and the silver sedan to the area of Rockland Trust Bank at 399 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA. Task officers observed the silver sedan park on Dresden Circle, which is approximately 100 yards from the Rockland Trust Bank. Task Force officers observed O’GRADY walking around the Rockland Trust Bank and pointing at surveillance cameras in the area of the bank. A short time later, O’GRADY entered the Jeep Cherokee and drove through local streets surrounding the Davis Square area appearing to look for escape routes in the area. At approximately 11:30PM, Task Force Officers then followed the vehicle back to the target residence.

On 9/25/2014, at approximately 8:00AM, Task Force Officers set up surveillance in the vicinity of the target residence. At approximately 8:35AM, O’GRADY leave the target residence in the same Jeep Cherokee from the previous night. At 8:47AM, surveillance observed the passenger of the Jeep Cherokee put a bandanna around his face. At 9:01AM, surveillance followed the Jeep to the Red Roof Inn on Commerce Way, Woburn, MA. At 9:13AM, surveillance officers observed O’GRADY get into the Jeep Cherokee get and leave the Red Roof Inn. The vehicle head to I-93 Southbound. At 10:19AM, surveillance observed the vehicle parked on Lesley Street. Surveillance officers observed O’GRADY outside of the vehicles on Lesley Street. At 10:52AM, O’GRADY was observed parking on Grove Street, approximately 30 yards from the Rockland Trust Bank. Soon thereafter, surveillance officers observed O’GRADY get out of the GMC truck and walk across Highland Avenue, in the direction of the Rockland Trust Bank. Surveillance officers observed O’GRADY wearing gloves, hats, bandannas over his face, and carrying a large grey bag. At this time, an execute order was given to the MA State Police STOP Team to effect an arrest of O’GRADY. O’GRADY were taken into custody at the front door of Rockland Trust Bank, Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA.
