We’re getting new neighbors: In case you missed the news

Partners HealthCare plans to build up to 1.1 million square feet of new mixed-use office space in several phases on the former IKEA parcel in Assembly Square. By late-2016 around 4,5…00 administrative employees are scheduled to move into the first two buildings. Although Partners is a tax exempt non-profit, they have agreed to make municipal services contributions to the City that are still being negotiated and the site should eventually generate more in revenue for the City than the tax payments IKEA would have made. Saturday 12/14: Somerville Illuminations Bicycle Tour
On Saturday, December 14 is the Somerville Illuminations Bicycle Tour, a wintry night-time ride amongst warmly lit homes. The Somerville Bicycle Committee holds this event in conjunction with the Somerville Arts Council’s Illuminations Trolley Tour the same evening. Meet at 5:50 pm in front of the main entrance to Somerville High School, 81 Highland Ave. (next to City Hall). We’ll depart promptly at 6 pm, riding for about an hour.
Please wear warm clothes and light up your bike — the more lights, the merrier! Costumes are encouraged but not required. We suggest a $5 donation to support the Somerville Arts Council. After the ride, enjoy hot drinks, treats, and good cheer at City Hall.
