Detective Michael Kiely

Detective Michael Kiely has been a dedicated member of the Somerville Police Department for the past 18 years. Detective Kiely has served in a number of positions within the
department, including his current position as the Department’s Forensic Officer. Earlier in the year, the City experienced an uptick in residential breaks and in his capacity as the Forensic Officer, Detective Kiely responded to many of these incidents to review the crime scene and collect physical evidence for use in solving these cases. His observations, his attention to detail and his patience in processing these crime scenes has lead to the arrest of individuals responsible for committing these crimes throughout the city. Detective Kiely’s commitment and professionalism resulted in the return of property to the rightful owners and the incarceration of the leaders of these criminal networks. Detective Kiely’s dedication to the performance of his duties is beyond the call of duty and merits this departmental recognition.
