When an image looks convincing, I find it harder to know what evidence to trust. I’m working on IsThisAPhoto, which checks an uploaded image, shows an AI probability, and explains the available signals in plain English. I treat the result as a starting point rather than proof; the image’s source and context still matter. I’d be interested to hear how others check a doubtful image before sharing it.
Events like this are what make Union Square feel like an actual village. For the storefront decoration contest crowd: the grid method is the trick behind those impressive hand-painted holiday windows – sketch your design, overlay a drawing grid to nail the proportions, and even non-artists can chalk a credible snowman. The marshmallow toasting station alone is worth the walk over. Hope the turnout was fantastic!
Neighbourhood events like this work because the organisers keep them small enough to walk. The moment a holiday stroll needs a shuttle bus, it stops being local.

I love that Union Square is bringing back the Holiday Stroll for a fifth year—there’s something so special about a neighborhood that turns a whole afternoon into a cozy, wandering celebration. The inflatable selfie station and the life-size hugging bear sound like pure joy, and I can already imagine the marshmallow toasting at the outdoor warming station. It got me thinking about how much music adds to that kind of festive atmosphere, especially when strolling musicians pop up around every corner.
