Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of Debbie Erb-Saverse who sadly passed away on July 9th.
Debbie a wonderful person who was always there when you needed her to help out and lend a helping hand!
Debbie Erb-Saverse was also a big advocate to a very important and wonderful organization here in the city and that is Somerville’s own “Post 19.”
Debbie always put 110% into everything she did to make sure that this great brave bunch of men and women of Somerville’s Post 19 got recognized for all the good that they have done for this great country and for what they still do for our fine city and our veterans.
We here at the Somerville News Weekly salute Debbie Erb-Saverse for all that she did to make Somerville a better place!

It feels right that at this time of the year, the week of the celebration of America’s Declaration of Independence, as a good time to honor WWII vet, Somerville’s Sgt. Henry Hansen.
It was he, along with others in his combat unit, who raised the first American flag on the mountain top at Iwo Jima, Feb 23, 1945. Unfortunately, within the week, on March 1st, Henry was killed in action.
