Delio B. Susi, 75, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on May 5, 2026, in Fort Myers, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and a life well lived. Born on July 19, 1950, in Sulmona, Italy, he carried with him throughout his life the values, traditions, and deep faith of his homeland.
Delio came to Boston’s North End from Italy in 1961, beginning a new chapter in America with determination and hope. He grew up in the Boston area and graduated from Charlestown High School in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Those who knew him remember a man who embraced opportunity, worked tirelessly, and never lost sight of the importance of family, community, and perseverance.
For more than 25 years, Delio worked for Polaroid in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he was respected for his dedication and reliability. He also owned and operated Amelia’s Kitchen in Somerville, Massachusetts, sharing his love of good food and hospitality with those around him. Later in life, he continued to serve his community through his work in traffic and parking for the City of Somerville, Massachusetts. In each role, he brought a strong work ethic, a steady presence, and a willingness to help wherever needed.
Delio was a Christian whose faith was an important part of his life. He found strength in his beliefs and lived with quiet dignity and compassion. His life reflected the words of Helen Keller, who said, “What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” Those who loved Delio will carry his memory with them always, and the impact of his life will remain a lasting part of their hearts.
He is survived by his wife of four years, Portia of Cape Coral, Florida; his brother, Frank, and Frank’s wife, Adriana Susi, of Boston, Massachusetts; his sister, Gina, and her late husband, Silvio Susi, of Boston, Massachusetts; and his nieces and nephews, Rita and her husband, Jerry Diecidue, of Boston, Massachusetts; Tony and his wife, Maria Susi, of Burlington, Massachusetts; Franca Susi of Boston, Massachusetts; and Piero and his wife, Stefania Susi, of Melrose, Massachusetts. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will remember him with affection and gratitude.
Delio will be remembered as a devoted husband, a proud family man, and a hardworking gentleman who built a meaningful life through determination and love. He was admired for his steady character, his warm presence, and the pride he took in the life he created after coming to the United States as a young boy. His journey from Sulmona to Boston and later to Florida was marked by resilience, faith, and a deep appreciation for the blessings of family and home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:45 AM on Monday, May 11, 2026, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral, Florida. The family will receive friends for viewing from 8:30 to 10:30 AM the same day at Fuller Metz Funeral Home in Cape Coral. Delio’s life will be honored with the reverence and love befitting a man who touched so many lives and will be dearly missed.
