PHCS Meeting July 21 – community note

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, Ward 7 Alderman Katjana Ballantyne and the Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development invite all interested residents to a community meeting to discuss next steps for the future of the former Powder House Community School site. The meeting will be held on Monday, July 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the West Somerville Neighborhood School, 177 Powder House Boulevard. In March, after the City ended its negotiations with Tufts University regarding the development of the site, the Mayor announced that the City would issue a new Request for Proposals. For updates on the project, visit or call OSPCD at 617-625-6600 ext. 2500.

Upcoming SomerStreets Events in Somerville

on Sunday, July 27th, the City will host “Seize the Summer” @ SomerStreets on Highland Avenue (Walnut Street to Lowell Street) from noon-4 p.m. (rain or shine). Please join us for dancing, walking, cycling and other fun activities.

SomerStreets is the City of Somerville’s Open Streets initiative, which fosters community involvement and active living by closing a section of roadway and offering active, family-friendly programming along the route.

We hope that you’d be interested in participating on the day of the event by:
