Somerville, MA – October 2nd, 2013– The Post-Meridian Radio Players are bringing the dead back to challenge the living this Halloween season with a stage adaptation of the classic horror film The Night of the Living Dead. The show will also feature an adaptation of the classic Suspense! radio episode Ghost Hunt.
Ghost Hunt, originally aired in 1949, tells the tale of a radio DJ “Smiley Smith” (Joev Dubach) as he spends the night in an allegedly haunted house. The PMRP version is directed by Mindy Klenoff (The Do-Nothing Detective, Summer Radio Theatre).
Night of the Living Dead will be directed by Jay Sekora (Them!, Spring Scifi Spectacular 2). Sekora also adapted the script from the original George Romero public domain film. The PMRP version will stay close to the story and feel of the original, albeit with a few modifications to fit performance style. Night of the Living Dead stars Emery Westlake as Ben and Samantha Amodeo as Barbra.
The Post-Meridian Radio Players perform their stage shows in the style of the Golden Age of Radio, with actors holding scripts and speaking into microphones while Foley artists create live sound effects.
“This creates an audio experience unmatched by other theater styles” said Producer Chris DeKalb. “Especially with horror where your imagination will create the monsters far more effectively than anything else we could do.”
Night of the Living Dead runs for six performances at the Responsible Grace Church at 204 Elm Street in Somerville MA.
