Winners to be selected, presented during Historic Preservation Month in May 2014
SOMERVILLE – The Somerville Historic Preservation Commission (SHPC) is now accepting nominations for the 2014 Preservation Awards. During its annual celebration in honor of Historic Preservation Month in May 2014, the SHPC will honor Somerville residents who performed significant restoration or maintenance efforts on designated historic buildings, or on non-designated buildings erected before 1963. The 2013 World Series Championship banner being Installed at Boston’s Fenway Park was manufactured by Tony Lafuente of Flag Graphics of Allston Street in Somerville MA.
Tony Lafuente’s Flag Grapics has been manufacturing the flags for the champs of all our Boston sports teams for years.
Luana Schneider and Guest speaker, Staff Sergeant George “Chris” Campbell, a disabled/wounded veteran, presented a touching multi-media presentation and discussion. Many Older Veterans were able to relate to the stories shared that day as well as share their own thoughts, stories and reflections about their service. It was a great time had by all and special opportunity for healing the wounds, united together.

Somerville, MA — Mark Niedergang announced that he has received endorsements from State Representative Carl Sciortino; Somerville Aldermen Rebekah Gewirtz and Tony Lafuente: and Somerville School Committee members Adam Sweeting, Christine Rafal and Paul Bockelman. Niedergang is a candidate for Ward 5 Alderman and has represented Ward 5 on the Somerville School Committee for eight years.
