Obituary
Barbara D. (Lupi) Bonanno – Of Stoughton, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. She was 85 years old. Born in Cambridge and raised in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Augustina (Camillo) Lupi.
Barbara worked 70 years as a bookkeeper and loved what she did. She cherished her family above all else and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and playing boards games. She was an avid sports fan, cheering on her local teams. Barbara especially loved going out to lunch with her sister, and one of their favorite places to visit was the Kowloon Restaurant.
Wife of the late Anthony Bonanno. Beloved mother of Richard Brown and his wife Wendy of Somerville, Joseph Brown and his wife Patricia “PJ” of Medford, Debra Sousa of Danvers and the late Danine Marshall. Devoted grandmother of Christopher Brown and his wife Ashley, Jessica Souther and her partner Jason Torres, Philip Souther and his partner Jennifer Colson, Danielle Marshall, Dana Marshall, Haley Francois and her husband Jacob, Shannon Brown and her fiance Joshua Cohun, Lauren Brown and the late Daniel Marshall. Cherished great-grandmother of Madelyn Nazzaro, Mila Barlow, Ashlee Allen, Spencer Allen, Jackson Souther and with one more on the way. Loving sister of Loretta Taibi, John Lupi, Robert Lupi, Edward Lupi and Theresa Vining. Also lovingly survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) on Saturday, September 12th from 9:00AM to 11:00AM. Followed by a service in the funeral home at 11:00AM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Interment will be held at a later date.
