Medford: Man Arrested After Disturbance at Fells Plaza

At approximately 6pm last evening, August 26, 2026, officers responded to the Fells Plaza for reports of a man chasing several people in the area of BioLife Plasma Services (640 Fellsway). Multiple calls followed, including reports that a firearm had been shown and that a shooting may have occurred.

Officers quickly detained a male party matching the original description of the man who had been chasing people. Officers learned from the woman being chased that, following a brief interaction, the man began chasing her and threw a glass bottle in her direction. A piece of glass from the bottle struck a child who was nearby causing a minor injury.

Through the course of the investigation, including video footage and witness statements, it was determined that no firearm was involved and that no shooting had taken place.

Jose Angel Lozano, 49, of Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.

Mr. Lozano was transported to Somerville District Court this morning for arraignment.

We would like to thank our responding officers for their quick response and professionalism during this incident. Officers were responding to multiple reports of a potentially armed individual and a possible shooting and were able to quickly locate and safely detain the involved party while determining that there was no active shooting.
