CASE UPDATE: TWO ARRESTED IN SALEM STREET SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

The Medford Police Department has arrested two individuals in connection with the shooting that occurred on August 16, 2026, in the area of 389 Salem Street.

No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.
Following an investigation by Medford Police Detectives, two suspects believed to have been involved in the incident were identified and subsequently placed under arrest this morning.

Jayden Velazquez, 19, of Lynn, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for the following charges:

• Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building
• Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
• Discharging a Firearm and Striking Building

Jalen Louis, 19, of Lynn, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for the following charges:
• Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building
• Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
• Discharging a Firearm and Striking Building

The investigation remains ongoing.

Velazquez and Louis were arraigned today in Somerville District Court.

We would like to thank the members of the community who provided information and surveillance footage during the course of this investigation. That assistance was valuable to investigators as they worked to identify those involved.
