On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, I was working in the Somerville Police Drug Unit as Delta-18. Recently, there was a shooting/armed robbery which took place on September 8, 2021 at XXX Mystic Avenue. Please see incident #21047035 for all reports.
During the course of my investigation, I found that Rene Peralta, DOB XXXX, was involved in an armed robbery to wit a firearm along with XXXX and XXXX. Peralta physically took items from XXXX, the victim, while Mr. XXXX held a firearm in his waistband intimidating XXXX. Peralta was unknown to me at the time of the original incident as I was unable to view all the camera footage until September 13, 2021. Knowing Mr. Peralta resides at 500 Mystic Avenue #31A, surveillance was set up in the morning. Detectives Goncalves, Legros, J. Costa, Oliveira, and members of the FBI Violent Crimes Task force were also present and assisted with surveillance.
At approximately 8:15 A.M., Detective Legros observed Mr. Peralta walking away from the area of 500A Mystic Avenue. Mr. Peralta was with his mother and proceeded to get into a vehicle parked in an adjacent lot. Peralta then proceeded to drive to the intersection of Grant Street and Mystic Avenue where he entered a coffee shop. Peralta was taken into custody at this time without incident. During an inventory of Mr. Peralta’s property, Detective Oliveira located a clear glassine bag containing several other glassine bags in Mr. Peralta’s right pant pocket. After observing the white rocklike substance, I believe it to be crack cocaine in my training and experience. I would note that the baggies were inside of a larger baggie and weighed approximately seven grams all together. I believe the way in which the crack was packaged and its weight, Mr. Peralta possessed these items with the intent to sell them not for personal use. Also inside the large glassine baggie was a small baggie containing two whole and three pieces of a small blue pill I believe to be Percocet 30mg for Peralta’s personal use.
Mr. Peralta was transported to Somerville Police Headquarters via marked unit 200, Officer Taylor, where he was booked in the usual manner by Lieutenant G. Rymill. I would note that Mr. Peralta’s cellular phone was seized and subject to a search warrant.
Respectfully submitted,
Detective Fernando Cicerone #279
