Somerville:4 BOA public hearings

Pursuant to City Charter Section 8, there will be a Public Hearing before the Board of Aldermen on Thursday, November 10, 2016, at 6:30 PM, in the Aldermanic Chambers, 2nd Floor, City Hall, 93 Highland Avenue, on the Order of Alderman William A. White, Jr., President of the Board, for public input on the matter of community benefits agreements and their potential to address displacement and uphold community values, pursuant to a request for a public hearing on the subject submitted by 138 registered voters to the Board of Aldermen on October 13, 2016 (#202235). The public is invited to attend and be heard.

 

There will be a Public Hearing before the Board of Aldermen’s Special Committee on Open Space, Environment and Energy on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at 7:30 PM, in the Aldermanic Chambers, 2nd Floor, City Hall, 93 Highland Avenue, on the Order of Alderman Katjana Ballantyne, Chairman of the Committee, for public input related to the city’s athletic fields master plan/usage plan and other field-related matters. The public is invited to attend and be heard.

 

Alderman William A. White, Jr., President of the Board of Aldermen, has called for a Public Hearing at a Special Meeting of the Board of Aldermen on Thursday, November 17, 2016, at 7:00 PM, in the Aldermanic Chambers, 2nd Floor, City Hall, 93 Highland Avenue, for public input on, and consideration of, the Mayor’s proposal for municipal funding for the Green Line Extension. It is expected that the Mayor’s proposal will be submitted to the Board at its regular meeting on Thursday, November 10, 2016, at 6:30 PM, in the same location. The public is invited to attend and be heard.

 

There will be a public hearing before the Board of Aldermen on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at 7:00 PM, in the Aldermanic Chambers, 2nd Floor, City Hall, 93 Highland Avenue, to determine the percentage of local tax levy to be borne by each class of real and personal property for Fiscal Year 2017, as required by MGL c40 s56. At this public hearing, Marc Levye, Chief Assessor and Chairman of the Somerville Board of Assessors, will provide all information and data relevant to making a determination, including the fiscal effects of the available alternatives. The public will have the opportunity to present oral or written testimony. It should be noted that Fiscal Year 2017 is a State Department of Revenue required Revaluation or Certification year. The public is invited to attend and be heard.
