Letter to the Editor:Thumbs Up For Somerville Police Officer With A Good Heart

The reason I am emailing the Somerville News Weekly is because on the date of June 11 while getting on I93 southbound my vehicle suffered a flat tire . While waiting for a tow truck for 30+ minutes with my daughter , a vehicle pulled over . An officer jumped out and asked if I needed assistance which I responded saying that I have never changed a flat tire . With no hesitation the officer got down to business and began changing my tire . The part that stood out to me the most was the officer pulled out his phone and began to call his job telling them he was going to be about 20 minutes late . The officer explained to me that he was in the Auxiliary department of the Somerville Police and he had just got out of an event . I was amazed at the fact that he was willing to lose hours on his check just to make sure that me and my daughter got home safely . I was and will always be a believer of the quote “Not all heroes wear capes” . The officer identified himself as Lucas Ribeiro he drives a white car with the license plate number ending in 964.
