El Sistema Somerville Announces New Leadership, Enrollment Open for 2015-16

  
Enrollment for El Sistema Somerville, an intensive afterschool music program under the direction of the Somerville Public Schools Music Department and the Community Schools afterschool program, is under way for the 2015-2016 school year. The program is open to students in grades 3-8 throughout the District. Guided by its mission to “empower all students to become confident, engaged learners through rigorous daily instruction in music ensembles, and to provide the community with equitable access to musical excellence,” El Sistema Somerville is continuing its commitment to musical excellence facilitated by the program’s first and former Director, Diane Cline. El Sistema Somerville will be led this year by the following program leadership team.
· David Palombo, a violinist, conductor and music educator, is the Artistic Coordinator and Middle School Coordinator of El Sistema Somerville and is also a Strings Teacher in the Somerville Public Schools.

· Silas de Oliveira, a Brazilian cellist and music educator, is the Elementary Coordinator of El Sistema Somerville.

· Vanessa Buttolph, a violinist and music educator, is the String Coordinator of El Sistema Somerville.

· Juliana Perez, a flutist and music educator, is the Winds and Brass Coordinator of El Sistema Somerville.
