2026 79 MILE SCOTT C. FOSTER MEMORIAL BIKE RIDE
Hello everyone!
First and foremost, I want to apologize for not sending out the thank you notes after last year’s ride. I was waiting to give you all an update that took longer than expected.
I now have awesome news to share that has been and will continue to be life-changing for our family. Two weeks ago, Katie got the call that they had a donor for her liver transplant! I immediately took Katie and Diane to the airport in Worcester to board a medical jet flight to Pittsburgh for the surgery. I am pleased to report the surgery went very well and that Katie is being discharged from the hospital to the recovery house as I write this letter. They will be staying in Pittsburgh for a total of 8 weeks.
After living with MSUD for 55 years, Diane and I are blessed to be able to see Katie live a normal life going forward. Our faith, the power of all your prayers and Katies special angel looking over her have all contributed to this day and we feel blessed beyond compare! We will be eternally grateful for the donor and their family that gave Katie a new lease on life. Diane and I know firsthand what it’s like to help others through organ donation with Scott’s passing.
Now for the 79 Mile Bike Ride this year! I have been blessed to have a total of 10 riders join me and push me to my outer limits this year. The list is as follows: Billy Goodwin, Kevin Guinee, Henry Shelley, Mark Sullivan, Roger Rauls, John Ianno, Phil Coyne, Jim McGann and Rick Beck. They are all up for the challenge!
Although Katie may be cured of MSUD in the future, my efforts to support all families with children with MSUD will continue. Your unwavering support of my efforts to find a cure has changed my life. Biking has made me healthier, and your support helps me to fulfill
my life’s purpose and dream to make a difference towards finding a cure for MSUD.
Donations can be made out to the Scott C Foster Research Fund and mailed to me at 199 Surf Drive, Falmouth, MA 02540 or by going online to MSUD Family Support Group. You will see a pop up for the Bike Ride. Click on that and at the bottom of Scott’s page click on “Donate Here” to bring you to “Giving Info”. Source: MSUD
