Sanabria & Carney Arrests

On the upon date and time I, Officer, was assigned to patrol area East-1. I was traveling north on Walnut St. and came upon a 2003 Acura MDX that was stopped in the middle of the street. As I came closer to the vehicle, I observed
the passenger door open and the passenger stick his head out the door and face the ground. He brought himself back into the car and the driver quickly drove off.

As I came to the end of Walnut St., I observed the above mentioned vehicle turn left onto Broadway westbound. As the vehicle turned, it drove over the sidewalk on the right side of the street blowing out the front right tire. At this time I activated my emergency lights and conducted a motor vehicle stop. The officer who was assigned to area East-4, arrived to assist me.

I approached the vehicle and asked the driver, Darin Carney, for his license and the vehicle’s registration. He stated that he did not have a license and handed me his MA issued id card. The passenger of the vehicle, Yose Sanabria, stated the vehicle was his wife’s and that he could not find the registration. At this time myself and the other officer observed multiple bottles of alcohol in the back seat of the vehicle, two of which were opened on the back seat of the car. As indicated on their identifications, both Carney and Sanabria are under 21 years of age. When asked, both Carney and Sanabria stated the alcohol in the car belonged to them.

I informed Carney that he was being placed under arrest for Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Minor in Possession of Alcohol. Carney was issued citation for the Unlicensed Operation and for Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

I also placed Sanabria under arrest for Minor in Possession of Alcohol.
