Boston Derby Dames Call Somerville Home, How Cool Is That!

The Boston Derby Dames Just about call Somerville home because the team is in Somerville just about every day practicing in the second floor of their practice facility roller rink right here the City of Somerville.

Boston’s premier Women’s Flat-Track Derby Association (WFTDA) roller derby league. Skating since 2005, being awesome since forever.

They train in Somerville, MA; they play at the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, MA.

About the Dames
They are Boston’s first and only all-female, DIY, skater-owned-and-operated flat track roller derby league and proud members of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).

The Boston Derby Dames have been skating their hearts out since May 2005 when the first intrepid rollergirls began training at both roller and hockey rinks throughout greater Boston.

The league now boasts more than 70 active skaters on four home teams: the Arkham Horrors, Cosmonaughties, Nutcrackers, and Wicked Pissahs.

Their all-star travel team, the Boston Massacre, has been in action since October 2005 and has traveled to play teams in Las Vegas, Columbus, Madison, and Seattle to name a few.

They’ve hosted Charm City (MD), Atlanta, Gotham (NYC), Cincinnati, Dominion (VA), Kansas, and more.

They are honored to have been WFTDA’s July 2011 Featured League!

Where They Play
Their home base is just north of Boston at Shriners Auditorium (located at 99 Fordham Road, Wilmington in MA.

On February 9th, 2008, they broke all previous attendance records when they hosted more than 1,600 fans at a bout between the Cosmonaughties and the Wicked Pissahs.

And with roller derby changing and growing exponentially with each season, their fan base has only continued to expand.
