Obituary
Francis A. Phillion – Of Brockton, formerly of Somerville, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. He was 76 years young.
Born in Cambridge and raised in Somerville, he was the son of the late Eugene and Jacqueline (Corr) Phillion.
Francis served his country as a proud Veteran of the U.S Army. He was titled as a sharp shooter and was honorably discharged after receiving a National Defense Service Medal.
In his pastimes, Francis enjoyed fishing, hunting, growing vegetables, collecting coins, and finding antiques anywhere he could. He liked spending time in Maine and Prince Edward Island, often accompanied by family and friends. His Sundays were spent at home watching the New England Patriots, or an old country western movie.
Francis had an unwavering love for his family, and lived a life of passion and faith. He devoted his life to providing for his parents, siblings, and children and he’ll be remembered as the heart beat of the Phillion family.
Beloved husband of the late Margaret M. (Collins) Phillion. Devoted father of Cheryl Celata and her husband David of Londonderry, Christine Norton and her husband Shawn of Reading, Jamie Phillion and his wife Lisa of Billerica, Joshua Phillion of Brockton and his partner Lisa, Stephanie Phillion and her partner Brian of Vassalboro, Jessica Phillion and her partner Jason of Brockton, Breanna DeMulis and Jorden Phillion. Cherished brother of Patricia Tammaro, Diane Collins and her husband John, and Paul Phillion and his wife Maryann. Loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He is also lovingly survived by Nancy Phillion Hicks, Justin Hicks and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Tuesday at 9:00AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church 399 Medford St., Somerville at 10:00AM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held on Monday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM.
Interment will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:30PM. Please meet directly at the main gate.
