Walter T. Burns – Of Somerville, November 18, 2025. Passed away after a lengthy illness at the age of 71 on November 18th . He was born and raised in Somerville. He loved sports, Military History and cigars.
He was an avid Boston sports fan. Loved camping up at Bartletts. Loved building model planes. Walter was very particular about his clothing. He loved to look his best no matter where he was going. Worked in Boston for years as a civil design draftsman. Worked with Engineers to produce plans for federal and state transportation projects amongst other projects. Son of the late Francis X. Burns and Anneliese Burns (Hoschke)
Beloved brother of Marlene Yager of Somerville, the late Richard F. Burrns of Somerville and Robert E. Burns of Townsend Beloved brother-in-law of the late Robert Yager of Somerville and sister-in-law Linda Burns of Townsend Beloved Uncle to Richard Yager of O’Fallon, Missouri, David Yager of Somerville, the late Jennifer Piette (Yager) of Grafton, Rebecca A. Burns of Arundel, Maine and William F. Burns of Dracut Beloved cousin of Stephen Sala of Belmont and Nancy Tighe (Sala) of Amesbury Great Uncle to Jess, Danny, Kaeleigh, and Josh. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Lahey Liver Transplant Foundation at Lahey Medical Center.
Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, November 25th in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville from 10:00AM to 12:00PM. Followed by a prayer service in the funeral home at 12:00PM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Services will conclude with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
