Valdemar “Val” Coelho was a wonderful person who will be sadly missed here in both Somerville and Cambridge.

Obituary:

Valdemar “Val” Coelho, age 70 of Taunton, Massachusetts, passed away on May 5, 2022 at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge.

He was the beloved husband of Ivone (Costa) Coelho.

Val was born in St. Michael, Azores

Before retiring, Mr. Coelho was employed with Ethan Allen for the past 45 years.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, and refinishing furniture.

Besides his beloved wife Ivone of almost 50 years, Mr. Coelho was survived by his sons, Paul Coelho and his wife Kimberly, Jeffrey Coelho and his wife Christine, his four grandchildren, Neveah, Serena, Colin, and Aidan, his brothers, Larry Coelho, Eddie Coelho, Fernando Coelho, Carlos Coelho, his sister Maria Macedo and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, brother Joe Coelho and sister Cindy Lago.

Mr. Coelho’s funeral was held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton. Interment will be held privately.

Visitation was held on Monday, May 9th from 4 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the Funeral Home.
