New First Responder Stamp Released By USPS in Somerville

This past Wednesday, Somerville Firefighters, Police and EMS First Responders from Cataldo Ambulance attended a ceremony where the United States Postal Service released its forever stamp honoring first responders at a dedication ceremony at the Union Square Post Office located on Bow Street in Somerville.

The stamp, which features three first responders racing into action, was designed to recognize “all first responders for their skill, dedication and uncommon bravery,” USPS wrote in a news release.

The stamp includes, from left to right, a firefighter carrying an axe, an EMS worker, with the EMS Star of Life visible on her cap, upper arm and emergency bag, and a law enforcement officer shining a flashlight.

A cake donated by Lyndell‘s Bakery was also provided to the first responders at the ceremony with a photo imprint of the stamp on the cake.
