On 5/26/2018, I, Officer Steven Scrugli and Officer Joseph Rivera, which were assigned to patrol East-1 responded with Officer Patrick Canty East-4 to xx Sydney Street for a report of a breaking and entering. The reporting person stated that a man entered a building that is under construction through the left rear side door.

On arrival the reporting party, who is identified as: XXXX (DOB: xxxx) of xx Sydney Street, informed and directed officers to the door of the house that was used to enter. Officer Canty entered the house while other officers searched the exterior. Officer Canty found a male suspect inside the basement bathroom and instructed him to exit. Inside of the bathroom on the sink countertop officers observed one glass pipe and one small clear bag containing a white powdery substance, that through training and experience is believed to be cocaine. While inside of the building officers observed various construction tools throughout. The suspect was identified as AILTON F. ORNELAS (DOB: xxxx), Officers brought ORNELAS outside where he was searched, during the search he made a spontaneous utterance that he does smoke crack. I placed ORNELAS under arrest and double locked the handcuffs for his safety. Unit 200 transport wagon was requested and ORNELAS was transported back to Somerville Police Department and booked in the usual manner by LT. Richard Lavey on the charges of:

M.G.L. Ch. 266 Sec. S16 – Breaking and Entering Nighttime

During the booking process it was discovered that ORNELAS also has four outstanding warrants. The glass pipe and white powdery substance was tagged and logged into evidence.
