Over 3/5 of Legislature Sign Letter Calling for Ban on “Pipeline Tax,”

Regulatory Shift at Department of Public Utilities

 

BOSTON – Senator Pat Jehlen (D-Somerville) led 125 state legislators in calling for the passage of legislation to permanently protect consumers and the environment from risks associated with gas pipeline expansion. Senator Jehlen is the lead sponsor of S.1855, which would codify the Supreme Judicial Court decision to prohibit electric customer financing of gas pipelines, often referred to as the “pipeline tax.”

Senate Passes Sweeping Criminal Justice Reform Bill

BOSTON – Senator Pat Jehlen (D-Somerville) recently joined her Senate colleagues in voting for a comprehensive criminal justice reform package that updates decades old criminal sentencing laws to improve outcomes of our criminal justice system. The bill, S. 2185, An Act Relative to Criminal Justice Reform, passed by a vote of 27-10.

Elio Lorusso Dishonors Himself by Attacking Veteran

Elio Lorusso recently put out a mail piece slamming Iraq War veteran and Ward 1 Alderman Matt McLaughlin for “not doing enough for veterans.” He claimed he would do more for veterans but has no record to prove it.

McLaughlin served two tours in Iraq. He is the chair of veteran services. He helped select the new veteran service officer for the city.

There are 279 home and business owners fighting eminent domain in Union Square. Some have been intimidated to sell and only received 30-40% of its true value.

The Greater Boston segment focused on the fact a lottery had a ratio of 3,400 applicants for 35 affordable apartments.

Somerville officials are not going to fight for the working class families who will become displaced.
