Somerville DPW Commissioner Stanley Koty Rumored To Be Replaced After Election

By William Tauro

Please notice this week’s The Somerville Times Newstalk column for November 1st, 2017 which reports that its rumored that Somerville Department of Public Works Commissioner Stanley Koty is said to be replaced by his Deputy Assistant Ricky Willette after the November 7th General Election. The times also reports that the mayor would not comment on this decision.

Political analysts are reporting to us that this could possibly be a strategic move on Mayor Curtatone’s as well as Commissioner Koty’s part to save his pension if Koty is indicted on possible criminal charges.

The charges are stemming from allegations in criminal complaints that were filed on him last week with the Somerville Police Department, the Attorney General’s Office as well as with the Federal Bureau of Investigation this past August.

Koty was also reported to the Office of the Massachusetts Inspector General for allegations of Fraud, Government waste and misappropriation and mishandling of municipal funds.

Koty is one of four City of Somerville employees including Mayor Curtatone, Somerville Police Captain Dan Cotter as well as for two affiliates of The Somerville Times that have had criminal complaints taken out on them last week.

The multiple criminal charges range from extortion, racketeering, misappropriation of municipal funds to harassment and character assassination.

Mayor Joseph Curtatone is facing an opponent in this coming November 7th election.

This story is still developing and we will keep you up to speed as it continues to unfold.
