Obituary
Patricia Ford passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, August 29, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. Born on June 11, 1944, in Malden, MA, Pat was the fourth of eight children born to Bridie Butterly and Martin J. Ford, both of County Galway, Ireland, and Medford, MA.
She grew up in Medford and graduated high school from Girls Catholic in 1962. She went on to attend Boston State College.
Pat is predeceased by her sisters Maureen Doherty (John) of San Rafael, CA, Cecilia Firth (Bill) of North Attleboro, and her brothers Jack Ford (Jan) of Dennis, and Martin J. Ford Jr. (Terry) of Medford. She is survived by her sisters Nancy Valys (Frank) of Winthrop, Kathleen Sargent of Medford, and her brother Michael Ford (Marianne) of Medford. She was a loving aunt to 23 nieces and nephews, great aunt to 40 great nieces and nephews, and great great aunt to many. She was especially involved in the life of her nephew Martin, as well as her great nephew Joseph and great niece Delaney.
Pat was a dedicated Medford Public School teacher for more than 35 years, specializing in Title I, special education. She also spent time teaching in Queens, New York, and had many fond memories of her time spent teaching in Golfito, Costa Rica. She loved reading the Boston Globe, doing her crosswords, golf, and most importantly, spending time with her family.
Pat will be remembered as a true friend, a loving neighbor, and a remarkable woman to all that were lucky enough to have known her. May her memory be a blessing.
Visiting hours for Pat will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway, (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 11:00am – 1:00pm.
