MICHAEL’S OBITUARY

Michael Finbar McDonagh, 84, of Somerville, Ma passed away on October 15, 2023, at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by his family after a brief illness.

Michael was born in Boston, Ma on March 27, 1939. Michael was a devoted husband to his wife Jean (Milewski) McDonagh for 43 years. He was a loving father to his two children, Maura DiPietro of Naples, FL and Michael P. McDonagh of North Weymouth, Ma. He was the cherished Papa of Jared and Paul of Naples, FL and Michael Joseph of North Weymouth, Ma.

Michael had a fulfilling career as a machine operator for Raytheon in Waltham and then later in Andover, Ma. He took great joy in spending time with his grandsons Jared, Paul and Michael Joseph. He enjoyed taking walks around his neighborhood daily, loved to read the newspaper and work on his crossword puzzles. He enjoyed going out with his wife Jean daily and their many trips to try out different restaurants or check out what was new at TJ Max or Marshalls. He always looked forward to taking trips to Naples, FL to visit Maura and her boys and he loved spending time with his son Michael and his family and his beloved grand dog Frankie.

Michael will be remembered for his kindness and generosity to all he knew. He was always there at a moment’s notice for anyone who needed him. He was a dedicated family man who always put his loved ones first.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, his brother James McDonagh and his wife Janet from Ohio and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in Death by his brother Kevin McDonagh and his wife Judy, his father Thomas McDonagh, Mother Mary Ann Hourihane and stepmother Annie Towers.
A funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Saturday, Oct 21 at 9:00AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church 399 Medford St., Somerville at 10:00AM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be on Friday from 4:00PM to 7:00PM.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Michael’s name to Sts. Louis and Zelie Martin Parish 185 Summer Street, Somerville, MA
