It’s extremely hard for immigrants that come here legally from other countries to live in the United States and work towards the American Dream. It’s extremely even more difficult for them to return to their native country to visit with family and to take care of elderly parents who may suffer from ailments especially when they’re over 4,600 miles away in many cases. Our system is broken, especially here in Somerville!
As a son of parents who immigrated from Italy and as a husband of a wife who immigrated from Brazil, I know firsthand of the difficulties and challenges that these people face on a daily basis. I have witnessed this again just this very month as my wife Marisa the future First Lady of Somerville traveled to visit her father who suffers with emphysema in Brazil. Marisa even got to visit and spend quality time with our new grandson Arthur who lives in Belo Horizonte Brazil with my stepson and his wife. Many families out there are not as fortunate as mine to be able to get a ticket, fly their spouse to Brazil and get them back here to accomplish this without interfering with their livelihoods and family situations.
That’s why my wife and I and my administration will be heavily involved in the community assisting families of all ethnic backgrounds here in Somerville to help them find a better way. We will be spearheading multiple partially private funded programs to assist people on the proper path to immigration, legalization, good healthcare, affordable housing, finding good paying jobs and yes even a clear path in assisting residents to start their own businesses and continue to live and enjoy the American Dream.
There is a lot of work to be done to make this happen and we are up for the job of getting it done. We will be constantly reassuring these people that have feared and witnessed failure and denial in the past and throughout their lives here in America. There’s got to be a better way and yes there is!
As mayor I will have an open door policy and I will work extremely hard to ensure to improve the quality of life for all Somerville residents of this city and make Somerville a safe and happy place for all. If you have a problem, you come see me, we will work it out and yes we will get it done! And for you people that don’t know me, I just want you to know that this is nothing new for me and that it’s not my first rodeo. I’ve been helping the people in this city, especially our seniors and veterans for over the past 40 years to make Somerville a better place for all.
I will be a mayor for all and yes everyone will be treated equal. Everybody will be welcome and everybody’s problems will be my priority to make sure that their problems are solved without any excuses or bullsh#% bureaucracy.
It’s time for change! #TEAMTAUROforMAYOR2021
