By William Tauro
Neighbors abutting 24-44 Broadway are up in arms over a proposed development that they believe is sneaking past through the cracks with political motivated involvement and that the developers are ignoring the neighborhood’s concerns. The project is said to take up the entire block from the former Boulter Plywood building to the Taco Loco Mexican Restaurant. LISTEN TO THE BOB KATZEN BABY BOOMER AND GEN X RADIO AND ONLINE SHOW
By Bob Katzen
Are you, like me, tired of being subjected to puzzled looks, blank stares and comments from younger people who look at you like you are Mel Brooks’ “2,000 Year Old Man” when you mention something from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s or even the 1980s? The state has launched a campaign designed to encourage people to have conversations with family and friends who may have mental health problems. REPLACE COLUMBUS DAY WITH INDIGENOUS PEOPLE’S DAY
By Bob Katzen
A bill that would replace the current state holiday of Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples’ Day has not seen any action in the House since it had a public hearing more than 17 months ago on April 30, 2019. The holiday would acknowledge the history of genocide and discrimination against Indigenous people and recognize and celebrate their thriving cultures and continued resistance. It’s nice to see we can do this before all the snow and ice and salt hits so we can mess it up and have to repaint it again. Of course it’s not like we can’t find the crossings anyway.
