How about this winter, folks? Compared to this time last year, we are EXTRA enjoying the mildness we’ve experienced so far (yes, we did just knock on wood). All that means is that makes it super easy for you to get out and about — and, of course, enjoy the outstanding programming here at The Armory! Lots coming up this month…. Tongue in Cheek: Unlucky in Love

Friday February 12, 7:30pm-9:30pm in the Cafe
Tongue in Cheek returns to the cafe for this cabaret-style show featuring songs celebrating bad choices, bad luck, and bad karma. The admission is FREE for this fun-filled event. 

  
I-Opener

Sunday, February 14, 10am-12pm in the Hall
Start your Valentine’s Day with yoga and movement! I-Opener is a monthly dance event that allows participants to explore the space in a judgment-free zone. This event is about the freedom of expression, enjoyment of music, and loving life. It is drug and alcohol free. Children are welcome!

  

Us & Them: Boston

Saturday, February 20, 6:30pm-9pm in the Cafe

This reading series gives writers with parallel careers as literary translators a place where they can showcase both sides of their work. Featured readers include Pablo Medina, Jennifer Barber, Eleanor Goodman, and Sam Cha. The event is free and open to the public.

  

The Arts Fuse’s First Annual Fusical

Friday, February 26, 6pm-10pm in the Hall
Join The Arts Fuse’s First Annual Fusical event to unite artists, writers, and enthusiasts! There will be food, there will be drinks, there will be merriment, there will be a Silent Auction. Come mix and mingle and enjoy. Tickets are $45 for VIP and $25 for GA up until February 12 when the GA admission goes up to $35. 

  

Artist Certification Initiative

Calling All Artists: the City of Somerville is launching a new Artist Certification Program to help provide artist living spaces at affordable rates. Join us for this meeting and stay tuned for other meetings to come!

The Somerville Winter Farmers’ Market continues every Saturday thru the end of March from 9:30am-2:30pm…. Local is for Lovers Valentine’s Market will be in the Hall on Sunday, February 7 from 10am-3pm…. The Somerville Flea’s Indoor Winter Market will be in the Hall on Sunday, February 21 from 10am-4pm. Support what’s local — support what’s unique.  
  

The Education Corner
Lots happening for students of all ages at The Armory!
Knucklebones is back this winter to turn the Performance Hall into a playspace for parents with their kiddos ages 8-months to 5-years. Join us Mondays 9:30am-11:30am through March 28th. For details/pricing, click here; to get a registration form, email play@knucklebones.us.
The Youth Arts Arise winter semester is off and running! This FREE after school program for students ages 11 to 19 is geared to fuel their creativity and confidence in the company of their peers. If you know of a student who’d like to join, there are still one or two spaces available this term.
The February Skillshare session takes place on the 22nd in the Cafe with two great free sessions for adults (topics to be announced).
Expressive Explorers, our toddler arts program, returns Thursday, February 4th and will run through March 10th, 9:30am-11:30am. $5 suggested donation.
**STAY TUNED** for Armory Art, a brand new program for the grownups. What a great way to reconnect with the artist inside of you! Details to come…
The B3 Dance Studio has a wide variety of movement classes for kids and adults alike, including Zumba, pilates, yoga, dance, and even violin.
