The gross neglect by our Congress is astounding. It just let the Perkins loan program expire, making it that much harder for young people to get a college education. We need more education and less hardship, not the other way around. 540,000 students received Perkins loans last year. That means we’re jeopardizing the education of more than half a million students. Our government simply cannot be that reptilian.
Once upon a time, both parties agreed on things like Perkins loans. Now apparently we have to fight for it. I’ll be on the side that’s fighting for a better educated tomorrow.
