Somerville Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, Chief of Police David Fallon, Superintendent of Schools Mary Skipper and Chief Fire Engineer Patrick Sullivan made an announcement this Wednesday morning in front of the John F. Kennedy School located at 5 Cherry St in Somerville about the Police Youth Partnership Program.
Beginning this school year, the Somerville Police Department and Somerville Public Schools, in partnership with the City of Somerville and Somerville Fire Department, will announce a unique partnership that seeks to increase relationship-building between public safety officials and young people in the City. The program to be announced is believed to be the first of its kind.
The Mayor, Superintendent of Schools, and Chiefs of Police and Fire discussed the program’s details, and how it will be implemented beginning on the first day of the 2015-2016 school year.
Members of the Somerville Police and Fire Departments where there in support of the joint efforts.
Wednesday was officially the first day back to school for students in Somerville.
