Real Life Somerville Police Stories:Larceny Arrests

Joshua WALSH Arrest

On Friday August 28, 2015 at approximately 1700, I Officer Randy Isaacs along with Officer Christopher Collette was dispatched to the area of Grand Union Blvd for a report of loss prevention from Saks 5th Avenue chasing a shoplifter. While en route dispatch put over the air that the suspect is a white male, wearing a black shirt and shorts, tattoos on both arms, and was running towards Home Depot. Upon arrival in the area I was flagged down by loss prevention who pointed the suspect out to me, walking on Mystic Ave, towards Boston. After making contact with the suspect I asked him to stop and he stated, “please don’t arrest me I gave all the things I took back”. The suspect is identified as Joshua Walsh and resides in Charlestown.

While speaking with loss prevention, I was informed that the suspect was observed walking into Saks, straight towards the sunglasses. The suspect took three sunglasses, 1 pair of Tory Burch sunglasses valued at $69.99, 1 pair of Ralph Lauren sunglasses valued at $59.99, and 1 pair of Chloe sunglasses valued at $89.99. After taking the three sunglasses the suspect ran out of the store, where he had a lookout waiting for him. As loss prevention ran out of the store after the suspect, his lookout ran the other way. While chasing the suspect, he dropped the sunglasses in K-Mart parking lot.

It was at that time that Mr. Walsh was placed under arrest for Larceny Under $250.00. Mobile detention, Unit 200 was dispatched to transport Mr. Walsh back to the Somerville Police station to be booked and fingerprinted.

Respectfully Submitted
