On January 31, 2014 I, Officer deOliveira, was the station officer for the Somerville Police Department. At approximately 5:00 p.m., victim came
to the lobby to report a past domestic assault. She stated that on Wednesday, January 29th, sometime after midnight, her boyfriend Rodrigo Moreira Silva (DOB 04/12/1992) assaulte her following an argument.
victim told me that initially she was hesitant to contact the police, fearing her legal status in this country could get her in trouble. But after speaking with her mother and friends, and especially after being told by her mother’s neighbors that Mr. Silva was stalking her mother’s house since the incident, in fear for her safety she decided to report the assault. At the time of this report, v had no visible injuries but was complaining of pains around her neck and her jaw. She refused medical attention but was advised to see her doctor. She was also advised of her 209A, including how and where to obtain a restraining order.
Officers Brioso and Anderson were dispatched to Mansfield Street , in the City of Somerville, in an attempt to arrest Mr. Silva. He was placed under arrest without incident and brought to the Somerville Police Department, where he was booked in the usual manner by Lieutenant Mulcahy under the charges of attempted murder by strangulation as well as assault and battery under the domestic violence law.
