KEVIN’S OBITUARY
Kevin C. Cotreau, of Haverhill, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, October 15, 2023. He was 63.
Born and raised in Somerville to Carl and Barbara (Walsh) Cotreau. Kevin was known for his excellent mechanical and fabrication skills. He had a mechanical mind and could diagnose and fix almost any vehicle, motor, lawn equipment or household things. He was a GM Master Auto Technician for over 20 years before changing careers to site construction and property maintenance/snow removal. He could maneuver big trucks and vehicles to fit anywhere and was responsible for repairing broken equipment whenever needed, even fabricating parts in emergencies to get the job done. He would plow up to 48 hours at a time and make sure it was spotless before he left the property.
When he was not working or out helping his bosses, family, friends, or neighbors with tree removal, car repairs or home projects, he like to play darts, watch the Bruins or old horror movies on tv, take trips to Plum Island, his favorite place besides his home, and take care of his home and lawn. He was an avid mountain biker and loved the outdoors. He was an excellent cook and was proud to keep the family traditions going with rappe pies and lobster/clam bakes. He especially loved corn on the cob and a good steak, but maybe candy corn just a little more. He truly loved the simple things in life but not as much as his wife, family and cat(s). He will be sorely missed by all who knew and relied on him. He always saw the glass as half full-no matter how tough things got, and he always tried to make do with what he had. He went to work faithfully, even when he was in pain, and worked harder than anyone should have, just to be the best he could be for himself, his wife and his company. He was kind of a rough guy (once a hockey player, always a fighter) and would tell you exactly what he thought, and do whatever he thought was right, no matter what others thought. He was proud to be from Somerville and was highly regarded by all those he worked and dealt with.
He was the beloved husband of 38 years to Laura (Slager) Cotreau. Devoted son of Carl and Barbara (Walsh) Cotreau. The cherished brother of Ken Cotreau and his wife Kim, and Keith Cotreau. The loving uncle of Ben and Patric and many other loving nieces and nephews. He is also survived by friends and extended family members.
Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home at 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) on Monday, October 23rd from 10:00AM to 12:00AM. A prayer service will be conducted in the funeral home at 12:00PM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Services will conclude with Kevin being laid to rest at Linwood Cemetery, 41 John Ward Avenue, Haverhill Ma.
