Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,
I have been in construction for many years. Anyone notice that the older buildings were so well built they had a hard time knocking them down. Once new ones were built they needed a lot of work and some of it very major.
And they are not that old. East Somerville had been shut down a lot needing work. The last job there was very major. Heck they took my house to build it. We destroyed solid buildings to build these that fall apart. Look at the improvements over the years at the high school. The old parts withstand an atom bomb. All the newer work falls apart and needs extensive repair. Newer buildings need extra ordinary inspections due to our children being in them and the nature of the type of building process. This time they were lucky.
Sincerely,
Arthur Moore
