Dear Winter Hill School Community,

Today’s update will be long because we have many new details to share. Please visit http://www.somerville.k12.ma.us for additional information and any new details we confirm over the next few days. We will continue to email the WHCIS community daily.

The locations are:

AIM Classrooms: Edgerly Building, 8 Bonair Street, 1st Floor. Transportation will be provided. Details to follow.
Prekindergarten and Kindergarten: Capuano Early Childhood Center, 150 Glen St.
Grades 1-8: Tufts University, Olin Hall, 180 Packard Avenue, Medford (on the Somerville line). Transportation will be provided. Details to follow.
Specific details for each location will be shared via email tomorrow and will be available at http://www.somerville.k12.ma.us as soon as this evening.

These locations are temporary and specifically for the end of this current school year only. Plans for summer will be shared as they are finalized.

Information Session Tuesday, 5-7 p.m.

Join us for a virtual Information session on Tuesday, June 6th, 5-7 p.m. Interpretation will be provided in Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole. We will email the meeting link and will post it at the website above prior to Tuesday evening. Staff will give any updates and will leave most of the meeting for Q&A.

Schedule for Next Week

To prepare to return to classes on Thursday, next week’s schedule will be:

Monday, June 5th: Staff will pack materials from WHCIS that are needed for the school year. The City’s Inspectional Services Department has deemed the building safe for entry and use for staff, but the building cannot accommodate the full student population while the impacted stairwell is closed. Educators will also pack any student belongings that may be remaining in classrooms.
Tuesday, June 6th: Classroom materials will be moved to the new temporary locations. Educators will use this time for planning and set up of their new temporary classroom spaces.
Wednesday, June 7th: Educators will use this time to prepare and finalize their new temporary classroom spaces.
Thursday, June 8th: Classes resume in new temporary locations.
We will continue to share daily updates this week. Thank you for your continued patience.

Dr. Curley, Principal Gosselin, and Mayor Ballantyne
