David “DJ” Murphy was a very nice person who will be sadly missed here in Somerville and Medford

Obituary:

David “DJ” Murphy unexpectedly passed away on September 19, 2021. DJ brought a smile to the face of everyone he encountered. He lit up the room with his huge smile, loud laugh, and infectious energy. DJ was an amazing son, brother, friend, and instructor to many. Most importantly, he was a loving uncle who loved spending time with his niece and nephew.

DJ overcame every battle he faced with confidence and perseverance. He was a fighter. He lost his father when he was a teenager and overcame his battle with cancer. DJ continued to teach, train, and compete in martial arts even after facing life altering injuries and illnesses. He didn’t let anything stop him from doing what he loved and supporting his students.

This past August, DJ’s family suffered another great loss when they tragically lost DJ’s younger brother, Moemin. This GoFundMe will assist his family with funeral costs and support them in any way we can during this difficult time. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.

David Murphy’s wake will be held at Dello Russo Funeral Home located in Medford on Thursday from 4:00PM-8:00PM
