Somerville Speakup Line:Somerville Doctor Calling on Mayor and City Council to Remove Inspectional Services Director Mr. Antanavica from His Position Immediately

Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,

Please publish this letter from Somerville Inspectional Services:

Mr. Antanavica (cc City Council, Mayor, Attorneys, Journalists)

I don’t deserve this email. No human does.

Your remarkable message below states that you will not vacate the first 12 days of Certificate of Occupancy Violations even after the Building Code Appeals Board determined I did not need a CO.
That means you are no longer enforcing the building code. You are actually violating it.

Remarkably, you are now only enforcing your desire to abuse me with your City powers.

Going Forward:
1. Please call me Dr. Rizkallah (I’ve never requested this of anyone)….but your snide efforts to diminish me, and the hurling of racial epithets at my minority-ethnic staff will no longer be tolerated.

2. You have to explain to all of us why you will vacate most but not all the violations for “certificate of occupancy required” (one of which is pasted below) when the state board determined I did not need a CO at all.

I am hereby calling on the Mayor and City Council to remove Mr. Antanavica from his position immediately.
He is not enforcing the building code (according to the Building Code Appeals Board itself).
He is violating the building code (according to the Building Code Appeals Board).
He is enforcing his desire to abuse me.
My victimization must stop.

Regards,

Dr. Mouhab Z. Rizkallah

Dear Mr. Rizkallah,

Given the December 15, 2020 decision by the BBRS that the email communication from this office constituted a formal ISD interpretation, this office will be abating the tickets issued after June 11, 2020, the date you originally filed the appeal application. All tickets issued prior to June 12, 2020 will not be abated at this time, pending the determination of any appeal.
